Specifications
KUMHO WINTERCRAFT ICE WI32
KUMHO WINTERCRAFT ICE WI32 185/55R15 86T XL — quality All season tyre from KUMHO. Reliable grip, stability and durability for everyday driving across all conditions.
Are these tyres reinforced?
Yes. The KUMHO WINTERCRAFT ICE WI32 carries the XL (Extra Load) marking, which means a stronger casing that takes higher pressures and carries more weight than a standard tyre of the same size. That suits heavier cars, fully loaded driving, vans, and EVs, which run heavier because of their battery packs. To get the full benefit, set the higher pressure the XL rating allows.
Are these tyres certified for snow?
Yes. The KUMHO WINTERCRAFT ICE WI32 carries the 3PMSF mark — the three-peak mountain snowflake — which a tyre only gets after passing an official snow-braking test. It counts as a proper winter tyre in countries where winter tyres are required by law, and it's a real measure of snow performance, not just the softer M+S label that makes no promise about grip.
KUMHO is a mid-range class manufacturer offering solid-quality tyres with a good balance of price and durability.
Customer reviews
Already driven a couple of thousand kilometers and the tread still looks good. Very satisfied.
Ajettu jo pari tuhatta kilometriä ja urat näyttävät edelleen hyviltä. Erittäin tyytyväinen.
Excellent tyres for the money, easy to install and no vibration even at speed.
Loistavat renkaat rahalle, helppo asentaa eikä tärinää nopeudessakaan.
I bought these tyres for my Scenic 3. My mileage in winter is quite low—around 3–4 thousand—so I can’t really comment on the tyres’ wear resistance. However, they still look as good as new. I use them for city driving, motorway driving and country roads in a ratio of 50–40–10 per cent. They’ve performed well across the board, earning a solid 4+ (though they fall just short of a 5). Personally, my only complaint is the noise level. It’s fine in town, but on the motorway at 90+ the noise is like an aeroplane or a train :)
I bought them in the summer they were reasonably priced. I’d read plenty of reviews about how noisy they were, so I was a bit wary. As I’d been driving on winter tyres all year (running them down), I changed them just before New Year, right before the snowfall. I spent ages wondering whether to fit studs or not. I drive 90% on motorways (which are always cleared and gritted in winter) and 10% on snow-covered country gravel roads. I didn’t go for studded tyres. The result they dig their way out of very heavy snow. They grip the road brilliantly, even when one side of the car drifts into the snow. I tested the noise levels at speeds up to 140. There’s a slight whine (like the muffled whine of a roof rack at speed). But I got used to it quickly and it’s hardly noticeable.
These tyres deserve a solid five out of five plus – excellent quality for their age. I bought some 225/50R17 Kumho Wi32 tyres for my car. It was a snowy winter, and the tyres never let me down once – they’re comfortable, quiet and grip the road brilliantly. I live in the countryside and do a lot of driving out of town and on the motorway.
