Specifications
KUMHO WINTERCRAFT WP51
KUMHO WINTERCRAFT WP51 205/60R15 91H XL — quality All season tyre from KUMHO. Reliable grip, stability and durability for everyday driving across all conditions.
How fuel-efficient is this tyre?
On the low side. The KUMHO WINTERCRAFT WP51 has an E rating, the bottom band for fuel economy. Higher rolling resistance means a bit more fuel on a petrol or diesel car, or slightly less range on an EV. Tyres here tend to put their effort into wet braking or hard winter grip instead.
How well does this tyre grip in the wet?
Solid. The KUMHO WINTERCRAFT WP51 sits at class C, the middle of the wet-grip scale. Braking and grip in the rain are reliable for normal conditions; you give up some braking distance to the top grades, but nothing that stands out day to day.
How much road noise does this tyre make?
About average. At 70 dB the KUMHO WINTERCRAFT WP51 sits right around the middle for car tyres. Nothing intrusive, nothing especially hushed — a level most drivers stop noticing after a few minutes.
Are these tyres reinforced?
Yes. The KUMHO WINTERCRAFT WP51 carries the XL (Extra Load) marking, which means a stronger casing that takes higher pressures and carries more weight than a standard tyre of the same size. That suits heavier cars, fully loaded driving, vans, and EVs, which run heavier because of their battery packs. To get the full benefit, set the higher pressure the XL rating allows.
Are these tyres certified for snow?
Yes. The KUMHO WINTERCRAFT WP51 carries the 3PMSF mark — the three-peak mountain snowflake — which a tyre only gets after passing an official snow-braking test. It counts as a proper winter tyre in countries where winter tyres are required by law, and it's a real measure of snow performance, not just the softer M+S label that makes no promise about grip.

KUMHO is a mid-range class manufacturer offering solid-quality tyres with a good balance of price and durability.
Customer reviews
My fourth set of winter tyres now. Drove roughly 5000 km on them from November through April and I'd say they clearly outperformed the ones I had before (Barum, Debica and Uniroyal). Grip and braking were excellent across dry, wet and snow, in everything from +7 down to -20°C.
Excellent grip on ice and snow. Quiet on the motorway too. Satisfied.
Erinomainen pito jäällä ja lumessa. Hiljaiset myös moottoritiellä. Tyytyväinen.
This is my first set of Kumho ice tyres and the first ice storm gave me a perfect chance to test them. Braking, accelerating, taking corners, no trouble at all. I did push a bit harder through one big sweeping bend and felt a little slip at the back, but other than that I'm really pleased. Price was great too.
Best winter tires you can get for a compact car
Second set from here, hasn't disappointed 👍
Toinen sarja täältä, ei ole pettänyt 👍
Fourth winter with similar tyres and these are clearly the best so far. Stable in corners and good braking grip when wet.
Fjärde vintern med liknande däck och dessa är klart bäst hittills. Stabila i kurvorna och bra bromsgrepp på vått.
Good tyres for the money. I've only driven a few hundred kilometers but the first impression is good.
Bra däck för pengarna. Har bara kört några hundra kilometer men första intrycket är bra.
Replaced the old ones with these and the difference is clear. Recommended.
Bytte ut de gamla mot dessa och skillnaden är tydlig. Rekommenderas.
